New Years Resolution

Updated: Jan 1, 2019

I swear I will step down from my position as president of the Blacksburg Regional Art Assn., in mid 2019, right after the New River Art Juried Biennial is over. I have held this position since September 2013 and am pretty much at burnout level with it. Not that it hasn't been fun. Not that it hasn't taught me tons. Not that it hasn't been gobs of work. Not that I haven't made friends that I will cherish forever. It has been all those things and more. As usual I take a job and build it into more than it was meant to be and, at last, it starts to feel more like a job than the fun it was supposed to be. It has pretty much taken over my life, cluttered my house and my calendar and pushed me to the point of sometimes feeling bitchy. Enter the bitchy, exit the task and move on to being not in charge any more. I will still belong, still do lots for the organization, I just don't want to be in charge! I want to spend time on a not so artsy personal project I have wanted to do for a long time. Today is January 1, 2019. A good time to make my new webpage and start a personal blog. I worked for the Department of Defense for 43 years and then 5 years for BRAA.
